Project Overview

When the war is past, and the territory has been redefined, the fortification is no longer used as the defense or solidifying the rule. This project seeks to rethink the potential and possibility of the historical fortification in today’s Manila, Philippine according to the historical identity, environmental concern, social needs, and urban development. Water will be a core medium to create the new system. By bringing the water back to the “moat”, this project intends to transform the historic moat site into a resilient zone which associates the urban ecology and mobilizes the connection between Intramuros and modern Manila City.
